5 basic (but important) SEO tips
Here’s a few things you’ll want to keep in mind as you are optimizing your website to show up on page one of Google’s search results. These basic tips are basic (duh), but they are also essential your long term success in SEO, be it for you own website or a clients.
- Commit to studying SEO. Search engine algorithms are always changing, the strategies that worked last year may not work this year.
- Be patient. SEO takes time (read: usually months) There are rarely instant results in SEO, and the newer your website, the longer it might take.
- Take advantage of Google Webmaster tools. Sign up for Google’s webmaster Central and Yahoo’s Site Explorer to learn more about how the search engines see your site, including how many inbound links they’re aware of.
- Create a new e-mail address specific to your website - This is especially important for link building. (ie Doug@getonpage1ofgoogle.com NOT getonpage1ofgoogle@gmail.com)
- Google loves what people love- Make this your mantra., always keep this in mind when optimizing your website. If your website has quality, relevant, useful content and user friendly navigation, the odds of you ranking higher in the search engines are increased immensely over those how don’t take the time to think of their websites visitors.
There are more of course but keeping these 5 things in mind as you employ other various white hat SEO techniques will ensure your success.
